BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY 

ANDREA HERNAN
EXECUTIVE CONSULTANT

 Andrea Hernan joined Harrington & Associates bringing with her over twenty years experience as a human resource professional. She began her human resources career in Youngstown, Ohio with Commercial Intertech (formerly Commercial Shearing, Inc.), an international manufacturing company, and Copperweld Steel Company.  Both assignments provided experience in unionized environments with over 2000 employees. In 1985 Hernan joined Professional Risk Management, Inc., a third party benefits administrator, as Vice President of Operations/ Planning. Major clients included three separate county school consortiums as well as varying sized private sector employers, both union and non-union.  She was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a growing company as well as providing consulting services in the areas of human resources and benefits for a number of clients, which included small, medium and large employers 

In 1988 she relocated to Florida to accept a position with a start up company, Premier Cruise Line, Ltd.  Hernan remained with Premier for twelve years where she was responsible for the development of all human resources functions to include employee benefit programs, employee handbook, salary and compensation programs, company policies and procedures, as well as organizational planning and staff development.  She acted as the organization’s legal compliance officer representing Premier Cruise Lines to its former parent company, the Dial Corp.  Hernan served the company as Vice President of Human Resources and Administration through three changes in ownership.   

In Florida, Andrea has served on the Board of Directors of the Employers Association of Florida and on the Industry Council of the Brevard Achievement Center. She is also a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, the American Management Association and the Health Insurance Institute of America. 

Ms. Hernan holds a bachelors degree from Saint Francis College in Pennsylvania, she taught elementary school upon graduation and did post graduate work at Youngstown State University in Business Administration. She holds a certification in principles of group health insurance with the Health Insurance Institute of America and has been a licensed insurance agent in the state of Ohio.
